Why is Lighting Fundamental in Interior Design?
Lighting is what sets the mood when you walk into a room. There can be bright natural light that is used for a workspace or soft warm light to help the environment feel more inviting. There are 3 basic types of lighting ambient, task, and accent lighting. There is also different tones of lighting that can be identified as Bright white, Natural, and Warm. It is important in any design to consider the type of lighting needed for the space.
Task lighting is the lighting that would be in an office, kitchen or anywhere that great visibility is required in order to do the task at hand.
Different fixtures that can provide task lighting are:
Ambient Lighting is used to light up a space, the light usually bounces off of the walls and illuminates the features of the space.

Ceiling mounted fixtures
Wall mounted fixtures
Accent Lighting is the light used to accent something important like a painting or unique design.
